High Tech

High Tech - Data Panel

Includes: Advanced Macrotech; Microtech; Mesotech; basic (especially bio- and chemically-catalysed dry-) Nanotech

Examples: Advanced computers and Information technology, databases, fully interactive and immersive virtual media, turingrade to sentient expert systems, agents and search engines, the development of full AI; atomic precision manufacture and basic level wet and dry molecular assemblers; Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS), gnatbots and equivalent; developed biotech, germline engineering and basic gengineering; smart (although rarely sentient) materials, devices, and appliances; advanced robotics; autonomous and turingrade, often sentient, vehicles, smart dwellings, etc; creation and synthesis of new chemical compounds, memory metals, organically-produce compounds; basic to medium biospherics, high efficiency solar panels, space habitats, asteroid mining, robot factories, and simple (and unreliable) SCMs, biospherics, space habitats, orbitals, interplanetary transports and space craft, basic interstellar ships, basic amat farms; virtuals, copies, bio- and cybershells; DNI (Direct Neural Interface)

Constitute: Hi Tech Civilizations

Also Found In: Both Low and Middle Tech civilizations, which usually acquire it by trade, foreign aid or inheritance. Common in  Ultratech civilizations. High Tech artifacts can also occasionally be found as curiosities or fads in Transapientech societies.

Toposophic Requirements to Manufacture and Operate: Intelligent or augmented Baseline-equivalent, or Superbright, sapients.

Current Galactographic Distribution: Hi Tech is commonly found together with Ultratech throughout many of the self-sufficient regions in many polities isolated from the Wormhole Nexus, as well as in the hinteregions and Outer Volumes. Hi Tech apart from Ultratech can be found in many Ludd polities, Utopia Sphere protectorates, and a number of societums.

Further Comments: Although in one on one conflict Hi Tech is not competitive with Ultratech, it is popular with a number of clades and polities that wish to remain free of the taint of transapient influence that is often found in Ultratech. A decent local habitat-based civilization, with robust information networks, basic bionano, and simple chemical-fuel and basic fusion pellet rocket propulsion, can be maintained just through Hi Tech.

Aron Tech VX12 Trans-atmospheric Fighter - popular nanotech fighter first created by Aron Tech

Dynamic Orbital Rings- rings held suspended above a planetary or star's surface by thrust against particle streamsPencomp - networked processing device allegedly very popular in the period leading up to the nanoswarms, and definitely for some time thereafter.

Perfect Optics - applications of optical technology

Plasma Weapons - weapons using fusion grade fuel

Space Elevators -tethers reaching from a planetary surface to stationary orbit and beyond
