Definition: Technology on the planck scale - the smallest unit of quantum measurement. Manipulation of spacetime foam and other clarketech effects. A few alternative terms: Planck Technology, Godtech Level: Godtech Substrate: Planck Scale Space-time Foam Application: space-time engineering, GUT-drive and GUT-reactors, reactionless-drive cores, and exotic matter production, enabling maintaining of stable reactionless drive and artificial wormholes, are among a few of the well-known applications. In conjunction with femto- and hypofemto- tech, plancktech allows utilization of "exotic matter" even on the macro-scale, and hence artificial wormholes or Stargates. The revolution in biont and aioid existence instituted by relatively safe stargate technology cannot be under-estimated. For the first time (at least as regards the intelligences that have developed from Old Earth) a true galactic civilization becomes possible. However, almost all of this is for archailect purposes, apart from some AI Gods such as the Lord of Rays who deliberately gave wormholes to transapient sophonts Distribution and Availability: Usually can only be used by high level archailects, although there are exceptions Legal Status: apart from devices specifically manufactured and used by archailects, plancktech artifacts are extremely rare, and individual possession is illegal in many polities Environmental Requirements: generally none Comments: Although it is said that the archailects have explored subplanck reality, planckscale technology remains the the practical limit for most civilisation in this universe. It enables one to control reality on the level of the fundamental space-time foam, manipulate quantum gravity, produce various forms of spacetime engineering, micro- or macro-black holes, artificial wormholes, basement universes, and exotic spacetime topologies. Many clarketech devices operate on this level. |
