The Civilized Galaxy

Never has there been a civilization like this! A super technological civilization overseen by god-like Archailects, spanning vast reaches of interstellar space, linked by relativistic ships and a vast wormhole nexus, united by a common interface protocol (well, a series of sometimes incompatible protocols, but...). Its extent encompasses some 300 billion cubic light years of space, more than 50 billion colonised worlds, dozens of giant star-spanning empires and federations, billions of smaller polities, microempires, protectorates, and free zones, and a total population of some 1500 trillion sapient and hypersapient beings of countless millions of different races, species, tribes and clades. Within its boundaries, all sentients are guaranteed the right to liberty and justice, to a quota of resources and nano-processing, to education, to protocols, to freedom from harm....Or are they?

Deeper Covenant Deeper Covenant:

A vast network of beamrider-linked polities, stations, and solar systems that first began during the late interplanetary age - mostly Brown dwarfs and M-type stars, includes all clades, high sentient rights, good relations with the Sephirotics the Objectivist Commonwealth, some commerce with the The Diamond Network and even the Shadow Federation.

Deeper Covenant Non-Aligned Polities:

It is not always necessary to be a part of a larger empire or meta-empire. Many non-aligned polities exist, in the borders between the larger hyperpowers. These small states guarantee the same sentient rights and adhere to the same standards of civilization as their larger brethren.

The Sephirotics The Sephirotics:

They consist of a number of vast archailect -ruled superempires and dominions, which serve as the support ecology for archailects, along with various associated non-aligned polities and empires that share their values.

Design Notes: One of the oldest sections on the Orion's Arm site (as the "page uploaded" date (below) indicates), "Civilization" had a rather amorphous status in the first version of OA. In the second version it incorporates "society" and the rather short-lived category of "metaempires".
