Applied Arts and Sciences

The Applied Arts and Sciences show how right use of arts and sciences can be used to build and maintain a civilization, spanning subjects like Memetics, Sociology, Politics, Administration and Social Services, Economics and Commerce, Law and Jurisprudence, Education and Personal Development. Also included are the various strategies that the competing factions and power players, and even the sephirotic hyperpolities, engage in to achieve their goals. Politics, diplomacy, economics and commerce, warfare and conquest, and of course memetic engineering are all included.

Applied Technology Applied Technology:

Technology has many uses and fields of application, representing specialised applications, from those that are relatively simple to others that can only be used and understood by high toposophic intelligences.

Astrography Astrography:

Every interstellar civilisation needs at least one way of determining one's position in space, but there are few standards of interstellar cartography or naming that are universally accepted. Here's how it's done.

Economics Economics:

Compared to habitat- and planetary-limited societies, interstellar civilisations and polities face unique challenges in managing trade, investment, business, and taxation. These are solved in various ways, and there are always new opportunities, as well as recurring new (and age-old) problems.

Law and Jurisprudence Law and Jurisprudence:

Safeguarding the rights of countless trillions of sentient beings, ensuring good relations between the humblest neighbours and the hugest interstellar trading partners and hyperpolities, and guaranteeing that the transapient-administered polities and empires are the best, fairest, and most just place for any sophont to be, the laws of the Civilized Galaxy, and the justice and wise jurisprudence of the hyperturings and postbionts, represent fairness par excellence. Of course, there are always higher transapients who don't recognise them, and lesser sapients that find them restrictive. But these represent a minority.

Memetics Memetics:

What is culture, what is art? What is religion, what is ideology? What is science, and what is vapourware? Ideas perpetuate themselves from generation to generation, from mind to mind, from node to node. They are the memes, they are mind viruses, they are darwinian evolution across the galactic noosphere. Transapients, polities and corporations find this the perfect way to influence the sapients in their domain. They engineer memes, initiate ideologies, entrench themselves in the collective noosphere of mindkind. Memetic engineering is the social technology par excellence, and the principle that shapes the outcome of events far more effectively than any battle or conquering army ever could.

Political Science Political Science

Politics and Diplomacy, Government and Administration.

Population Population

Some comments on interstellar colonization and population growth over the 10,000 years of terragen expansion.

Warfare War and Strategy:

Just because superhuman archailects are running the show doesn't mean there will be peace throughout the galaxy. Blights and perversities threaten the established order, warrior clades demand expression, petty despots and rogue hyperturings make their play, and the military entertainment complex is always there to turn a erg-cred. For war is as old as mindkind itself....
