Civilization Tech Levels and Superlevels![]() |
Prim Societies:
Pre- and post- industrial technological Civilizations and Societies that reject all advanced (and often lower and medium level) tech. |
Lo Tech Societies:
Primitive and relatively stable societies that use simple low maintenance technology. |
Middle Tech Societies:
As indicated by the name, this tech level is intermediate between lo and high tech. This is the highest level of non-sapient tech. It is based on machined parts, huge and expensive factories, and so on. Lack of atomically precise manufacture means it also tends to be wasteful on a large scale, although can be very reliable on a small scale (especially if designed for sustainable purposes). The high environmental cost and steep tech progress curves mean these societies tend to be short lived and unstable. This is the highest social and tech level in which the machines are non-sentient. For this reason, Middle Tech Civilizations are very popular among luddite groups and baseline supremacists. |
Hi Tech Societies:
This is highest tech level that can be maintained without any transapient assistance. For that reason, many Hi Tech Civilizations are very popular among nostalgic groups and baseline supremacists. |
Ultratech Societies:
Societies based on the highest level of tech accessible to sapients. They use technology based on ultra precise manipulation of data, components, and/or individual molecules. These societies are only possible because of hyperturing complexity management. |
Transapientech Societies:
This is transapient tech, beyond the understanding of ordinary sapients. |
Godtech Societies:
This includes both Minor or Lesser Godtech, created by minor or middling archailects, and Major or Greater Godtech, which is archailect tech, incomprehensible to lower toposophics. |
