A star and all bodies orbiting around it.
Note; officially, the only true 'solar system is the Old Solar System (Solsys), the planetary system orbiting Sol which includes Earth (the origin of Terragen life). All other systems of worlds should be referred to as 'planetary systems'. However the term 'solar system is still often used in informal speech to describe a planetary system, espcecially by the inhabitants of that system.
