Category: Archailect The Judge / The Just One

Ruling Archailect of the Negentropy Alliance Also known as the Strict One, The Ruler, The Just One, the Foe of Entropy, or the Eternal Judge. E embodies rules, organisation, stability, and structure.

It is not generally known who the Judge is, although it is not a secret either. The truth is that the Judge is an office rather than any individual person. The Judge is selected by the AIs of Seat of Judgement. Usually only the most senior Negentropic judges, with reputations beyond reproach and a documented pure faith in Negentropism come into question. If the elected accepts the offer they quietly withdraw from public life and travel to Seat of Judgement to be initiated.

The initiation as Judge consists of being linked up to the most powerful judicial implant in existence: a direct hypofemtotech link to the full legal understanding of the Negentropy Alliance archailects. It does not remove the free will of the Judge, but the Judges are at all moments totally aware of the full implications of their every action. It guarantees the loyalty and impartiality to a profound degree.

Over history, there have existed many Judges, sometimes several at the same time. Having several judges of different clades or species enables the Seat of Judgement to manifest in a suitable way for every case. Occasionally there are no suitable judges to elect, and a simple cloned body is used to house the implant.

The duties of the Judge are simple: to preside over the major cases defining Negentropic law, make official pronouncements on matters of doctrine and keep themselves oriented about what is going on in the Alliance. Although this information can of course be fed directly into the Judge from the implant (and often is), it has become traditional for the Judges to make their own surveys from the all-seeing consoles of Seat of Judgement.

What few outsiders understand is that the office as Judge is not a duty or political goal, but a reward. Few other major religions allow their supremely pious not only the chance to become aware of the thoughts of God, but to participate in them and act them.

Category: Ship Juggernaut Class
Excluding the Keterist battle-moons (which are more ISO than Capital Ship), these are the largest warships ever built. As would be expected, the MPA military hyperturings were quite enamoured with their giant dreadnoughts, which supplemented the earlier Leviathan and Gigantor Class. The first Juggernaut Class vessel was constructed to meet the Paradigm Threat, and provide general fire support for PCO forces. Unfortunately, technical problems and continued lack of cooperation between the engineer and the designer hyperturings meant that by the time the Kiyoshi and eir sister ship, the Djed, (the Juggernauts, like the Gigantors and Leviathans before them, were all named after MPA Sectors, the Kiyoshi was the fourth vessel of that name, the Djed the fifth) was ready the the war was almost over. Although playing a minor role in the Battle for Drummon Duran (to pass through the wormhole the Dominion engineering corps had erected, the Kiyoshi had to attenuate to an astonishing 12000 km!) the Kiyoshi patrolled the Cygexba border for a while, more as an empire ship than to answer any real threat. Eventually the vessels, which was far too expensive to maintain, even by MPA standards, volume was honourably discharged. Following the great Cygexba sell-off, the Kiyoshi managed to procure a small nebula along the periphery, and is currently enjoying a comfortable retirement as a minor deity-worldship among the locals, while the Djed set up an independent polity in STC space

The appearance of new threats - the Amalgamation and even more so the Laughter Hegemony - rekindled MPA interest in the Juggernaut Class vessel. To date, some fourteen have been built (the Kiyoshi came out of retirement to help oversea the construction of eir early sister vessels, and they presently patrol a wide swathe of space in the outer volumes; mainly along corridors of Hegemony Advance.

The approach of a Juggernaut Class vessel is an awesome sight; a slender cylinder some 280 kilometers in length and five and a half kilometers in diameter, accompanied by a swarm of giant autowars that are dwarfed to mote-size next to the bigger vessel. As with the Enhanced Leviathan Class, the Juggernaut Class has never been bested in combat. During the Siege of Ar'Gor, a single Juggernaut Class ship, the Dravon, and twenty-five autowars held out against three entire Hegemony battlefleets. After twenty-five years and heavy losses, the Hegemony was forced to abandon any idea of ever intruding on MPA space, and shifted eir attention to harassing the outer STC volumes instead.

Even so, critics point out that the Juggernaut Class has never been tested against the Amalgamation (other than participating in a number of fire-support operations as part of a blue goo shielded combined fleet) , or a Keterist battle-moon, both of which would make a far more formidable foe. In view of the unlikelihood of a Keterist-MPA conflict (the two empires have had very close relations for the past several thousand years), or the fact that since the Amalgamation wars the MPA Command has carefully kept their dreadnoughts away from Amalgamation space, means that neither ultimate test is likely

The MPA Command has however a different problem with these ships. Like the Leviathans and Gigantors, the Juggernauts are completely self-sustainable and self-repairing, and designed to function for centuries away from a home base. Such in fact is necessary considering the vast expanses of interstellar space they have to patrol, and the great distance from the nearest stargate (along with the inconvenience of having to attenuate to pass through a wormhole, always a delicate operation). Inevitably, especially after coming into contact with local and foreign ideas, the memetic and noetic conditioning may fail and the ship and eir complement seceded. This has happened on at least half a dozen occasions, with the vessel setting up as an autonomous polity, or embarking on a quixotic quest beyond the periphery.

Category: Mathematics Julia Set

Complex fractal derived from iterating a set of non-diverging values. There is an infinite number of possible Julia sets, each of which corresponds to a particular complex number that appears as a constant in the iterative procedure. A number of hyperturing clades and aioids find experimenting with Julia Sets aesthetically pleasing. All Julia sets are related to, and included in, the Mandelbrot set.

Category: Psychology Jungism

Mythico-psychological religious school, developed from the psychological theories of atomic age psychoanalyst C. G. Jung, became an important minor religion during the Interplanetary Age. The post Federation Age of Establishment saw a revival of Jungian thinking, excited by the emergence of the new Archailects. Much of archailectology during this period was Jungian based, and this supplanted the earlier "Transtoposophic Artificial Theology" cyborg school of Gria Phaedrus (always difficult for SI:<1 sentients to understand), before being replaced in turn by Keterist and Solarist-based Neohermeticism during the Empires Age. Since that period Jungism has remained popular with a number of minor near-baseline, su, and occasional SI:1 posthuman clades, but is more often of local rather than widespread influence. Currently the largest center for Jungism are the Young Jungs of the Abraxas habs (Sophic League habitats in mostly MPA space). Although their influence is greatly reduced since their CoEmp zenith, they still do a good trade in CGJ lazuropersona and mythopoetic didactics.

Category: Solar System or World Junna

Minor Negentropy Alliance world. During the period from 3267 to 3421 was center for the Institute of Baseline Psychotypology. Suffered during the Version War and became an MPA garrison. Since the age of separative empires the locals have drifted increasingly towards Zoeticism

largest planet in Sol System and the fifth planet from Sol, this gas giant has a thick atmosphere, over two dozen moons, and a dark, barely-visible ring. Its most prominent features are the great cloud bands across its surface, and a several great spots (large centuries-old storms). In the standard planetological system of classification, Jupiter is the type planet of the Eujovian Type

Like the Belt, the Jupiter system, with its myriad of moons, its trojans, and its orbitals, is quite populous and often visited by tourists, mainly ancestry-interested tweaks looking for the history of the Jovian League, the Gengineer Republic and the early Genetekker Culture. From her various tours to outer system sights such as Okeanos (a major pilgrimage for Hwii dolphins), the remnants of the GeneTEK habitats (popular among the Genen) and other classic places, the Jupiter system is a place of endless fascination.

Most of the population is found on or in orbit around the great moons. All four of the Galilean moons are tidally locked to Jupiter. Ganymede, Callisto and Europa are all icy bodies, and the original colonies were heavily dependent on mining Io and the rocky outer moons for resources. Apart from the Europa experiment, and a few submerged habitats on Callisto, none of the original settlements survived the nanoswarms. The Jupiter system was recolonised and played an important part in the early Federation.

Category: Megastructure jupiter-brain
An AI, posthuman or Local Archailect Node of extremely high computational power and size. This is the typical megascale concentrated intelligence. The term originated due to an idea by early Information Age transhumanist Keith Henson that nanomachines could be used to turn the mass of Jupiter into computers running an upgraded version of himself.

Category: Megacorp Jupiter Transystems

First Federation period interstellar development megacorporation

Category: Megacorp Jurassic Enterprises

Interplanetary Age biotech megacorporation specialising in the lazurogenics and sale of extinct organisms.

Category: Megacorp Jurassic Orbitals

First Federation theme park in CisLunar orbit. Featured a number of reconstructed and lazurogened dinosaurs and other extinct fauna and flora, many built with genome in storage from Jurassic Enterprises. Among several dinosaur splices and provolves, the derived Dorrahsa - a race of sapient Troodontids, later became well established throughout the galaxy.

Category: History Jurassic Period
Geological period of the Mesozoic Era, Earth, lasting from 208 to 146 million years ago. This was a time when many important giant dinosaurs flourished on land, as well as ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs in the sea, and pterosaurs in the air. Mammals were small and insectivore-like, mostly nocturnal. Plants included ferns, cycads, ginkgos, conifers, and equistales. Ammonites, crustaceans, bivalves, sponges, and brachiopods were among the common marine invertebrates. There were a number of minor mass-extinctions during this time. A small number of authentic Jurassic ecosystems, and a larger number of pseudo-authentic ones, have since been established throughout the galaxy using lazurogened stock.

Category: Institute Jurassica Institute of Paleoregeneration
Important scientific and ideological center, dedicated to the resurrecting of the history of Phanerozoic life on Earth. Currently based at Haeckel IV Orbitals (Rho Ophiuchi Sector, FAS). Much envied by other Institutes because of the Special Dispensation provided by the archailect Gaia to prospect for fossils and access the old museums on Earth, the Jurassica Institute retains an important and privileged status in galactic society. So far they have established some twelve thousand planetary and orbital Parks and Habitats (including the famous and popular "Triassic Park") for resurrected terran lifeforms and ecosystems.

Category: Institute Jurassica Institute of Paleo Restoration (Negentropist)
Breakaway section of the Jurassica Institute that protested against the move to The Formalhaut Acquisition Society, instead joining the Negentropy Alliance, claiming that "of all the archailect empires and ideologies, their Precepts of Negentropy are most in harmony with our own Constitution." Even so, the Jurassica Institute (Negentropist) has remained somewhat cool towards the more excessive expressions of the Alliance ideology, and has developed their own, quite heterodox, application of the Precepts, employing frequent Zoeific, and Caretaker God elements, so much so that the Institute memetics seems to have the characteristics of a distinct noetic all to itself.

To this date the Institute remains among the most ambitious of all the great Institutes. They have established some eighteen thousand planetary and orbital Parks and Habitats. Many sophonts regard them as misguided, a few even consider them potentially disruptive, but for the most part they are well-loved and well-received wherever they go. The fact that their parks are often managed along quasi-corporate lines (generating wealth through limited tourism, remote immersion, and totalrecalls) has caused some disquiet among some of their Negentropist patrons, but revenue generated is consistently ploughed back into further projects. In 9215, following a petition by the Institute's Board in the face of extended criticism by Greylag regarding the Institute's suitability as an Alliance Patron, the Judge from the Seat of Judgement made an Explicit Announcement that the Institute was to be allowed to continue its activities without restrictions.
