Kemmerer

The only known naturally occurring singularity is on the gaian-type planet Kemmerer in the Eta Carina Rush where the equivalent of bacteria developed the ability to swap resistance genes and the earliest multicellular organisms retained this ability, using it to exchange useful genes between species. As a result the course of evolution has been more Lamarckian than it is on Earth.

The more advanced organisms developed a nonsentient mechanism for evaluating desirable traits and modifying them during their lifetime, involving competition for both food and exchangeable or pirated genetic data packets. (So-called shareware genes). These organisms gradually redesigned themselves naturally and finally hit on increasing their own processing power, rapidly achieving singularity two million years ago, several metaspecies at once- the selection pressures in such a hothouse world being intense up to the point of singularity.

Today the dense banyanoid rainforest of Kemmerer has settled down into solipsism, content to amuse itself with the creation of witty and sarcastic insectoid life. The planetary system is watched over by Lady Mondegrin/oncehuman, a caretaker god(dess) who has self transcended using Keterist templates in order to protect this phenomenon from interference and contamination.

Kenehan-LeRiche Complex

Kenehan-LeRiche Complex 8437003 in Jupiter orbit, late Federation Era.

The Kenehan-LeRiche complexes were at first communications and data storage units with some nanoimmune duties, but became prime real estate for federation AIs during the 1500's. More than ten million such complexes were built and placed in orbit around Jupiter, making it a dense computing nexus. The traditional modular design had cooling grids that tended to be encrusted by sulphur dust from the Io stream, giving them the nickname goldenwings.

Qristan Kemshola (4169 - ?)

MPA philosopher, fabulist and metacognitivist from Tyron band, Djed.

Kemshola was born with a high sophotect genome in one of the Tyron extended families. Extensively networked from early childhood, Kemshola became interested in the problems of ontology and emergence that had so far been largely ignored by the practicalist Djed philosophical schools.

His main philosophical synthesis occurred in 2235, when he began presenting his theory of "the cathedral made of void". This theory, later dubbed Void Cathedralism, would become the basis of MPA materialism. Extending his ideas into omegism, he developed a for its time highly innovative form of paramegism which became fully appreciated only during the ComEmp.

The story that Kemshola met a baseline, a victim of Pourmurmide and an upload and that these experiences drove him on his philosophical quest is most certainly a fabrication. In the later half of his public life he embraced fabulism, and began a deliberate campaign of disinformation and myth-making about himself and his philosophies. This was so successful that all traces of the historical Kemshola end beyond 2650. The story that he gave his mind as a gift to the Keterist emissary devices at the Nueva Hidalgo meeting is most likely fabrication, although not even major Keter intelligences can vouchsafe this. The evidence for his escape to Earth and later life as rianth in Australia has been debunked. That Kemshola was killed in a shuttle crash on Jordana in 2694 is more likely, although the story that he was transmuted into a perfect artwork at Unerk-Pr!fok on Barboro appears to be currently leading story. The numerous copies and forgeries that with embarrassing regularity appear in MPA systems only help add to the confusion.

Johannes Kepler (1571-1630)

German mathematician who first postulated that the planets revolve around the sun in elliptical orbits, rather than (as had previously been believed) spherical ones.

Developed Kepler's Three Laws that mathematically describe the elliptical orbits of celestial objects. For several years he worked with Tycho Brahe. He also formulated a hypothesis of planetary spheres in terms of the five platonic solids that, whilst having no factual basis, has had a tremendous aesthetic and philosophical appeal (the culmination being in the construction of Kepleria). Kepler has been described as one of the five greatest pre-singularity scientists. His genome was reconstructed with 81% authenticity during the interplanetary era (since fine tuned to 96%) and has been public domain since early First Federation time. There are also several 99.99% grade genomes available, but these are corporate owned and come with annoying disinstallment nano if full payment is not made after a regulation period. A number of these have been hacked and are widely available.

Kepler's First Law of Planetary Motion states that the orbits of the planets are ellipses with the sun at one focus of the ellipse.

Kepler's Second Law of Planetary Motion is equivalent to the conservation of angular momentum. It states that a line from a planet to the sun will sweep out equal areas in equal times. Hence a planet moves more slowly when it is farther from the sun and faster when it is near it.

Kepler's Third Law of Planetary Motion states that T2 is proportional to a3, where T is the orbital period of a planet (its year) and a is the semi-major axis of the ellipse.

Keter

Major Archailect, also known as the Volant, The First Point, and the Transcendent One.

Keter emerged in the 2200-2300's as the deliberate alliance and merger of a number of high-level AIs with great ambition, biont worshippers and developing pico- and femto-tech. E embodies the absolute, the fundamental, the blazing pure light of creation. It supports lesser beings to attempt to refine themselves and reach perfection, although E is also one of the most aloof archailect clusters - it is up to everything to strive, but the only thing Keter provides is the light to aim at

Keter

In Kabbalah, and Hermeticism, and Neohermeticism the name of the first Sefirah which is regarded as the first condensation of spiritual substance from the limitless unmanifest En Sof; the first manifested existence or cosmic being. Keter contains involved within itself all the other nine Sefirot, which it proceeds in regular serial order to emanate forth. Other terms applied to it are the Most Holy Ancient One, the Ancient of Days, and White Head, the Great Aspect, and Macroprosopus (long countenance, in the sense of Long-Suffering One Its Divine Name is Ehyeh (I am). It emanated in turn the second Sefirah, Hokmah. It is not entirely clear why the archailect that emerged in and around Aleph Absolute should identify Emself with this sefirah, since Keter in Kabbalah is a downward rather than an upward principle of manifestation.
