Trade Federation

Under this system of government, each member polity rules itself and has its own laws, but all polities have signed a trade agreement. This agreement promises not only free trade between all the member polities but also serves as a mutual peace treaty. The different polities avoid interfering with each other's internal affairs. In some cases, if one polity is attacked, the others will join it to fight the common enemy.

Trade federations are delicate and easily upset, since each member is in the federation for a profit. If a planet or a group of planets decides it can do better on its own or with another group, it may pull out of the federation. An example of a trade federation was the European Common Market of Information Age Earth, and the early Non Coercive Zone of the late First Federation period.

trade language

Language used by several different polities or clades (each with their own separate language) when engaging in trade or other commercial interaction. Often a trade language may supersede local languages for many purposes, or donate loan words, lexemes or phrases to those languages. Also used to describe various commercial languages used by NoCoZo, Cygexpa and Fomalhaut trading companies.

tragedy

1: noun/ A literary or multimedia work with an unhappy outcome, often with an implicit or explicit moral lesson attached.; 2: noun/ An unfortunate event in the real world with an unhappy outcome, often disastrous or involving loss of life

Tragon

: Exploration corporation/house of the STC, active across accessible space. Named after the mythical "searching robot lizard" of Kolmorian mythology, the organization has been active since the 7000s. It has invested heavily in the Eta Carina Rush and in a recent series of expansion stargates deep into the Sagittarius arm.

Transapients

post-sapient or singularity ascended being; beings of inconceivable intelligence and capability, self-evolving, self-constituting, unlimited individuals.

Intermediate between standard sapients and archailects (higher hypersingularity). Often they are completely enigmatic to those sentients below them. In some cases, powers serve as mediators between the archai and the superintelligent and subsingularity beings (as seraiph for example), while in other instances they follow their own independent evolution and development.

Transavant

Common term used for those sophonts who have only "partially" ascended beyond their base toposophic level.

[1] To become vastly superhuman or superbaseline and incomprehensible to unaugmented (or even lower hyperturing) beings. To breach a singularity barrier

[2] To become a god or godlike, to attain Enlightenment, to become a power, or a transcendent being, to disappear from manifest existence, to enter into the Cosmic Mind or the Absolute, or realise one always was the Absolute all along

[3] (noun) one who transcends, or the act of transcendence, from a lower to a higher toposophic. In doing so, the old faculties drop away - e.g. a Buddha who enters nirvana is a transcend because e no longer retains an embodied existence. Contrast with ascend

one who transcends to one toposophic, then ascends to the next. For example an intelligence may transcend to SI:1, leaving behind everything of itself that was of SI:<1. Then e may ascend to S2, retaining eir SI:1 nature but adding an S2 superstructure on top of the SI:1 nature. Contrast transcend-ascend. Often however the dividing lines are not this well defined

transcendent being

An entity that is distinct from physical existence, whether considered ontologically, as a supernatural or supraphysical being, or soteriologically, as a being that is no longer a part of embodied existence or samsara. The existence of a transcendent being or beings (e.g. God, Buddhas, etc) is central to many religious memeticities, but denied by physicalist memeticities.

Transcendent Burn-out Theory

Theory that states that the reason for the rarity of other intelligent races and the lack of an ancient universe spanning civilization is that as a civilization spreads across the stars and increases its population, the number of transcensions it experiences increases geometrically. With the spread of a civilization across the stars and the consequent increase in intra-civilization communications,knowledge and expertise, the paths to transcendence to SI:1 and higher levels and the number of safe techniques and methods to achieve these levels increases as a function of the number of communicating sites. Eventually, virtually all parts of the civilization have transcended to a level that ceases to have any detectable interaction with the observable universe or else have gone extinct. Proponents of this theory point out that it took tens of thousands of years for terragens to achieve the first singularity level on a single world, but in the next few thousand years they achieved some 15 or more additional levels in thousands of locations.

Given the huge population of the terragen bubble and the fact that ascensions and transcensions are moderately common and have been going on for thousands of years, it seems reasonable that many civilization has developed some fairly reliable methods for predicting the onset of one of these events. Sort of like predicting the weather on the surface of a Garden World (and a large transcendence probably does share some conceptual characteristics with a force of nature to those watching from outside at a lower S level). Sentients in the area who didn't want to risk being sucked in or possibly harmed by the event would be warned to leave the area exercise caution, or possibly to take advantage of newly opened worlds or habitats left behind. The following is a typical transmission:

They go around wearing these holographic T-shirts which play a little movie of the latest big transcendence they recorded, you know, an "I was There when the Croupe-Ngame B MicroCluster made the Big Exponential" They hold conventions, swap collectibles, show off their artifacts, that sort of thing...

The Transcension of Andapuyaran

The fifteenth module of the famous Anandayanna Nirvana, which tells of the transcension of the Anandayannas, and has recently become a popular didactic tale in some Sophic polities

Transcension machine

Transcension machine: banned in some polities and commonly confused with some toposophic transcension device by the lay ones, the transcension machine is a nanotech pill used by those who got tired of the mundane life to transcend to a spiritual plane, to another existence, or simply die.

It has two parallel actions, after the nanomachines activate. One is painlessly deactivates body functions slowly. The other is to induce mind into a state of awake-dreaming, bringing good sensations to the euthanasing being. This state won't though, affect sensory system of the being in any way other than the natural activity cease caused by the device.

More modern versions have optimized the process in a way so it can be fully reversed even when more than 50% has been proceeded, through a mental command of the pill user.

Transcension prediction

Given the huge population of the civilized galaxy, and the fact that ascensions and transcensions are moderately common and have been going on for thousands of years, it is not unsurprising that many polities and civilizations have developed some fairly reliable methods for predicting the onset of one of these events. Often this is comparable to pre- and post-singularity efforts at predicting the weather (and a large transcendence event does indeed share some conceptual characteristics with a force of nature to those watching from outside at a lower S level).

This is an exciting job, especially for an idealistic nearbaseline (of course the whole thing could be automated, but sometimes nearbaselines are used because other nearbaselines feel more comfortable if the news comes from a biont rather than an expert system) all e has to do is watch the displays and when the local aioid or dedicating hyperturing tells em something is about to happen, e yells "hot dawg! This is gonna be a big 'un all right! Ooh yeah!"
