Some landscapes from the worlds of the Orion's Arm Civilisation

eostremonath
Eostremonath (61 Virginis II); The Baringian Coast

xanthe
The dry ocean floor of a postgaian world, Xanthe, and the local star, which will become a red giant in the not too distant future

CLOUDSCAPE
Helium gathering balloon in the atmosphere of Adams, Beta Virginis V. The balloon itself contains heated hydrogen, which is generated as a by product of the filtration process. The factory module is seen below. It contains a small nuclear isotope reactor, an active He3 isotope filtration system, cryosystems to store helium, navigation equipment and a set of shuttle canisters. When the factory has extracted enough helium, a shuttle canister brings it up to a high atmosphere rendezvous with a manned shuttle. Due to the gravity well and complexities of navigation within giant planet atmospheres, new canisters cannot be supplied and the balloon is retired once all have been used; the reactor is turned off, and it sinks into the depths of Adams.

CLOUDSCAPE
A Tube City floating in the atmosphere of Keil, a water-cloud Jovian orbiting 55 Cancri
The tube is supported by heated hydrogen balloons, and kept in place by atmospheric drag anchors far below

twilight
Above the clouds on Daleth Ring habitat , orbiting Alpha Aquarii

cronus

A flying city on Cronus; actually these cities are supported by utility fog and loadbearing members, concealed by phased array optics

binaria
Binaria Minor, the giant moon of Binaria Major (Gliese 783)
