Orion's Arm is...

A joint effort in science fiction worldbuilding

The essential pragmatic philosophy behind the Orion's Arm Project is that one person alone, no matter how talented, cannot come up with as vast a scenario as many can together. I may envisage many things you wouldn't, but equally, you would envisage much that I would never have dreamt of. But a synergistic creative effort by many would build a vaster universe of the imagination than one person alone could dream up.

But more than that, working in a group is fun. It is fun to exchange ideas, to contribute, to see how things turn out.

There is a real joy in the act of creation, and a pride in seeing one's work unfold. You have the opportunity not only to passively explore a vast universe, but to actually help create it! Provided only that you stay within the basic premises of the setting, you can include any of your own ideas.

This is basically what Orion's Arm is about - and it is still very much a work in progress. One that can only get bigger and better. Especially with your help!
