Polyglot |
Polyglot was a term that in the post-singularity era came to signify the language that developed amongst the first Po. With their increased memory and linguistic skills, the Po were able to easily master all languages that had developed in the pre-singularity period. When speaking together, Po began to fall into the habit of rapidly shifting languages to better express a concept or mood. Eventually this coalesced into a giant language with a complex grammar and unimaginable vocabulary. There were hundreds, sometimes thousands of synonyms of varying shades of meaning and connotation to choose from. Po poetry reached previously unimagined heights using Polyglot. As time passed, the Po and later transapients with their greater mental faculties were able to make finer distinctions between phenomena than their hu predecessors, and also discovered concepts unknown to sub-singularity intellects. Such concepts were often expressed simply by adapting some of the available Polyglot synonyms to have specific or new meanings.
Over the centuries, polyglot grew to incredible size and complexity, and splintered into untold branch languages. The Polyglot family of languages is the most common spoken by transapients among themselves in the Sephirotics. Of course, when speaking to subsingularity sophonts they must drop back to what the transapients often refer to as one of the "fractional" languages.
