Design Notes: The topics page was intended by MAK as a generic summary and index page for the worldbuilding (as opposed to the creative writing) side of the Orion's Arm site. It was then neglected when he set up a number of smaller level pages, none of which proved very successful because of the unorganised nature of the version 1 OA. In OA v.2 it has been refurbished in a trimmed down version of its original role, with the Timeline, Galactography, and Sophonts coverage being given separate main pages.
