Players and Power Factions

The various competing Players and Power Factions vie for influence in everything from the largest star spanning empire to the most minor habitat-polity. Included here are sephirotic empires, polities, personalities, the great houses, the megacorps and transplanetaries, subversives, hiders, and newcomers. Does one throw one's lot in with one of them, or seek one's own destiny in the cracks and crevices they don't reach?

Empires Empires:

Mighty confederations and alliances of worlds that, guided and backed by hyperturing and archailect AIs, the great Empires persist over interstellar distances for thousands of years. Smaller less well-organised empires aren't so lucky...

Megacorps Megacorps:

The vast transplanetaries - unimaginably powerful and wealthy mercantile corporations that span star-systems and drive commerce and economics throughout the known worlds. They manipulate entire nation-states with ease; waging a never-ending battle of memetic subversion, a war to win the hearts and minds and hip pockets of their potential customers.

The Great Houses The Great Houses:

Ancient and powerful aristocratic establishments and bloodlines going back thousands of years, each House is also a distinct race with its own rules and culture and religion, and its own guiding and overseeing AIs. A fortunate few even become empires to rival the AI Gods themselves. They find their niche in the galactic ecology, and entertain the masses with pomp and spectacle, while backstabbing and jockeying for power amongst themselves.

Hiders Hiders:

Not everyone has it good, or is happy with the established order. And some of those who don't can make life troublesome for the rest. But really all they are trying to do is find a place for themselves like everyone else.

Subversives Subversives:

They have always been around, although their names and their causes may vary. For them the end always justifies the means. The authorities would dearly love to get their hands on them. If only they could. Viva the revolution!...

Newcomers Newcomers:

Watch out for the new kids on the block! The Inner Sphere hyperturings, empires, megacorps, and great houses are being threatened by newcomers on the periphery. And no sooner is one dealt with, then, like the many-headed hydra of Old Earth mythology, two more appear in its place!...
