First colonised by the Ypperbach clade in 1989 a.t.. The planet had a primitive biology (with several exotic amino acids and metalloproteins, but generally similar to Earth life) to which the Ypperbach adapted themselves, becoming the Cythera clade. They set to exploit the system, trading biological products and genetic design with other systems. Over time the Cytherans built an impressive artificially evolved ecosphere on their planet based on the original microbiota., making it the xenogenetics capital of the Age of Consolidation and Second Federation. The plant-like organisms which make up the major part of the newly developed Cytheran land ecology are notable for their yellow-green colour, due to the predominance of xanthophyll pigments. In the ComEmp Cythera largely lost its importance, growing more introvert and conservative. Today it is mainly a popular tourist attraction for Inner Sphere tourists and the home of a number of highly renowned ecotechnology institutes.
