Alnitak (Zeta Orionis) is a triple star system in the Orion Federation; the largest component is a hot blue O-Class supergiant.

Alnitak is a Class O Supergiant (spectral Type O9.7 Ib) in the Orion Federation, emitting prodigious amounts of energy. The primary star is a hot blue supergiant with an absolute magnitude of -5.25, It has two smaller, bluish companion stars. The stars are members of the The Orion OB1 Association.

Seen from Sol System this star is at the eastern end of the Orion's belt. Alnitak is the site of extensive antimatter production and also a long term starlifting project. Site of an unfortunate transcension accident involving the archai Herne and the (simulated) archai Xyloplax. (See also the Xyloplax Incident.)
