IIRC the First Singularity in OAUP is several centuries away. Do you think it is that far? A lot of futurists think that we will have ASI within a decade or two. If so how will it affect our website? Do we just ask the ASI to rewrite it for us?
If that happens, the setting will be rewritten like always when there is a development irl that conflicts with OA. But I highly doubt that we will have ASI within a decade or two.

Were a science FICTION site. We are not trying to make predictions of the future so don't go reading the site and thinking that's what we're trying to say.

It doesn't really matter what ""futurists"" believe even if they did have any relevant expertise, because again we're science fiction.

If an artificial superintelligence appears during our lifetime then the world will become so radically different that speculating on what the members of OA in future decades might need to do becomes rather pointless. OA might not even exist, it might have already changed significantly, it might have been so thoroughly integrated with non-superintelligent AI that it writes itself.

Futurism by definition is simply the concern of the events and trends of the future and the works of many futurists have helped inspire the Orion's Arm Scenario, so it's not like futurism doesn't have any relevance here.
These kinds of questions do nothing to expand the setting or the project or to improve them in any way.

They should honestly be confined to the off-topic discussions thread or posted to the Discord where this kind of generalized fan discussion is more appropriate.
