It's worth noting that the civilisation mentioned doesn't have to look like empty space; it only has to mimic a normal star in terms of its emission spectrum and so on. A Dyson swarm programmed to emit radiation mimicking a red giant (complete with starspots and so on) would probably look much like such a star from a distance and therefore escape notice that way. Camouflage rather than invisibility. Smile

While this is certainly true, and well within their capabilities, the Tleitylwesi's (historically justified) paranoia would call for concealment rather than camouflage (though they would project images of the space on the opposite side of the bubble, which would otherwise be obscured, to improve the illusion). After all, what good would it be to make the bubble look like a red giant if that was precisely the sort of star a potential enemy was interested in?
