Question about suprashell worlds - Baleia espacial - 08-08-2020

Can suprashell worlds have plate tectonics, even if artificial?

I would say that generally the answer would be 'no' - but if you have the means to create such a thing in the first place and are feeling some tremendous motivation to have it have plate tectonics - or the effects thereof - it's probably possible to create a reasonable facsimile.

Natural plate tectonics would be right out though.

What would be the motivation for doing such a thing?
