Hello - Godd Howard - 05-24-2025

I've already posted on the forum before, but I figured I probably should make a thread here, just to introduce myself and also because It seems you need to make a thread like this for access to the discord (I don't have discord and I don't plan on getting it but this thread could be useful if I ever decide to join)

Hi! As I'm sure you've already guessed, my name isn't actually Godd howard, and, despite what my profile may tell you, I'm not actually 98 years old. I was first introduced to Orion's Arm about two years ago, through my interest in speculative evolution, particularly my interest in realistic intelligent extraterrestrials (humanoid aliens are probably my biggest pet peeve). Aside from Orion's Arm, my favorite media includes Frasier(The original series), Humanity lost(It was the first project that got me into spec evo and by extension Orion's Arm), Calvin and Hobbes and Metal Gear(Particularly Metal Gear Solid 2). I'm currently reading Watchmen, Earthsea( I bought a first edition copy of Tehanu) and A Canticle for Leibowitz, and I'm watching House at the moment. I'm a student and, other than media consumption, my favorite hobby is going on long walks. I've probably overshared, and most of this would likely be a better fit for the bio section of my profile, but I'm already mostly finished writing this, so I may as well post it.

Hmm... That's a tough question. I would probably have to say the xenosophonts, probably because I've got this fascination with realistic aliens in media, and OA's xenosophonts really scratch that itch with me. However, I tend to have these sort of periods where I get an obsessive interest in a topic, as much content on the topic as I can find, and then lose interest. About 5 Years ago I got really into fanmade pokemon(weird, I know), but that interest fizzled out after about a year. In fairness I've had this interest in Aliens for over 2 years, so maybe it's here to stay...

Me too! I really like OA's Aliens. But what is your favorite alien species of this project? Muuh? Soft Ones? To'ul'h? Silent Ones?

I'd have to say the Muuh, but they're all good. I think the articles on extinct/uncontacted species are the most interesting though, the mystery surrounding them appeals to me.

RE: Hello - DSPE - 05-26-2025

yeah they are appealing too! my favorite one would be the aliens from Crystallographer's Nightmare Big Grin

You don't actually need to make a thread here to get access to the discord. It is simply that all discord members who also have a forum account get a special role that allows them to put attachments on their messages. Anyways, hope you enjoy your time here! ^.^
