This appears to have been fixed; note that we use both UK and American spelling on the site, sometimes in the same article.

Noticed something today - Solsys mentions that Mars has a population of 900m sophonts, whilst the Mars page claims it has a population of 200 mill. or so. Which is correct?

Good question - what would we prefer? I tend to think that Terragen sophonts (nearbaselines and other human derived beings anyway) tend to like open spaces so usually think in terms of population densities of 1 person/km2 - averaged across the entire surface. The 200 million number would be closer to that. But personally I'm fine with either one or something totally different if folks prefer that.

My 2c worth,

Todd

Neighbour is fine where I live, for instance. Generally in editing articles I try to match the standard spellings for the region the author comes from, if I know it. Consistency within any given article would be good, though.

The population of Mars will have fluctuated considerably over its ten-thousand-year history of colonisation. Sometimes as many as two billion people lived there, IIRC.

If the population is currently 200 million that is only a tenth of the peak population, but that is understandable on such an old and conservative world.

Check the first sentence of "Spacefarer's Union" - "us" instead of "is". ;p

From the "Bird" article:

"became extinct during theGreat Dying,"

needs a space ;p

After a month-long absence, I hereby return to my proofreading duties xD

On the Triangulum Transmission article:

"infrared emissions of G,K, and M class stars "

methinks this should be "G, K and M-class stars"

Also: the article mentions that Triangulum civ has existed for 15k years - I think this should be changed to establish that it existed for this long at the time the Transmission was sent out. In Y11K, after all, Triangulum civilisation has existed (assuming it still does in some recognizable form) for more than two million years. ;p
