RE: Proof-reading EG - stevebowers - 02-02-2017 Yes. There is a rather clever hybrid laser propulsions/smart particle propulsion system devised by Jordin Kare that might have powered some of these early probes; a big laser array accelerates millions or billions of tiny laser sails, which then converge on the payload and act like mass particles to transfer significantly more momentum to it. The Sailbeam concept (yes, I know I've mentioned it before) http://www.centauri-dreams.org/?p=460 RE: Proof-reading EG - QwertyYerty - 02-02-2017 "On" should be deleted. 201 - On Ceres City is pressurised, ready to attempt regulation of the already chaotic minor planets and their inhabitants. http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-topic/45b2b10d8b211 RE: Proof-reading EG - stevebowers - 02-02-2017 Fixed; thanks! RE: Proof-reading EG - QwertyYerty - 02-04-2017 By 2130 (160 AT)the family business, Lee Interorbital had a fleet of LEO shuttles. By 2150 (180 AT)they had established their own orbital habitat, - a combination of theme park, business hotel, and tax and data haven, officially called Elysium but more affectionately (and sometimes not so affectionately) known as Marcus World. This was to be the first of a number of "company biospheres" that were later to dot the asteroid belt and the surface of the half-terraformed Mars. http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/467b21f755b27 210 - Corporate orbital microworld Valhalla (also known as Marcus World), combination of theme park, business hotel, and tax and data haven, established by Lee Interorbital. http://www.orionsarm.com/eg-topic/45b2b10d8b211 RE: Proof-reading EG - QwertyYerty - 02-04-2017 Semicolon should be deleted. 212-216 - Extreme heteromorphing becoming passe; among the educated and fashion-conscious classes. http://www.orionsarm.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2669 RE: Proof-reading EG - QwertyYerty - 02-05-2017 During the first few years there was considerable friction between the two groups. For instance; the debate raged for three months when they decided to rename the Odyssey in [b]226 a.t.. The utopians proposed 'Utopia' and was vehemently vetoed by the academics, the academics proposed 'New Academion' which in turn was vetoed by the utopians. In the end they settled for 'Tir Sorcha'. Side note: there is no entry to explain what is meant by a 'data haven', something frequently mentioned in earlier vintage OA articles. I'll create a thread on this elsewhere.
