Short comment: I like the idea. OA makes body-hopping quite possible, and terms like "vec" or "biont" can be rendered inapplicable by such hops. "Rheomorph" covers that gap.

Just don't fall for the "iron bombing" idea. Stars already have lots of iron in their cores. A little extra iron isn't going to catalyze their doom.
