On the other hand, bees, and yellowhammers, and many other animals have a simple language (complete with local dialects), but do not have sophonce, so I don't think the existence of language is enough. Computers and any processing system (including animal brains) have a language that can be used internally, and potentially shared with other processors- but simply connecting lots of processors (or lots of ant-brains) together into networks would not be enough to achieve self-awareness. Otherwise the Internet would have woken up a long time ago.
