There's nothing wrong with humanoid aliens, they can be done well. Sure, they aren't "realistic," but sometimes the point of the story is not to be realistic, and the story is trying to convey something else. For example, in Star Trek, the different humanoid aliens are a metaphor for real-life people groups and how they interact.

Yeah they can be done well, but personally I think non humanoid aliens are much cooler
