Larger should be smaller

The very hot, diffuse plasma from a fusion rocket often provides a thrust that is too feeble to be practical, with an exhaust velocity that gives a ΔV larger than would be practically needed. Consequently, most fusion plasma rockets incorporate a second plasma chamber, sometimes called an "afterburner" in analogy with atmospheric jet turbine engines. Hot fusion plasma is vented into the secondary chamber, where it encouters a denser gas or plasma. The mixing of the hot fusion gas with the secondary fluid results in a plasma that is denser and colder. This plasma is allowed to escape into space, providing more thrust at a lower exhaust velocity for the same power. The heated afterburner plasma behaves like any thermal plasma rocket with an input energy equal to the energy in the fusion rocket plasma exhaust and a power efficiency of not more than 85%. In particular, for a given rate of propellant mass flow m'(in kg/s) and power P(in watts), the force (in newtons) is F = √ (1.7 P m') for 85% nozzle efficiency. The propellant used in the afterburners does not need to be the same as that of the fusion plasma - bulk afterburner propellant is usually whatever easily vaprozable material is most readily available and which can be easily stored. These afterburners are often needed for rapid interplanetary travel, but for interstellar missions the price in ΔV is too high and afterburners are commonly not employed for journeys between the stars.

Å (world)
" Interactions between subswarms would increase in speed and bandwidth as the asteroids moved close together, then decrease as they moved father apart, but all subswarms were in contact with each other to some extent. "

Father should be farther.

Fixed; thanks!

I think this sentence should be rewritten. I think it means that the thrust is low because the propellant fraction is small. How about

185 or 186?

185 - First human equivalent autonomous moravec robots (vecs); before this date independently mobile robots were limited to sub-human intelligence by law. Limits to processor capability result in these early vecs being of considerable size, comparable to terrestrial megafauna.

Although the terms are often blurred, and in some polities and cultures even interchangeable, the term "vec" (named for the Information Age roboticist and ai researcher Hans Morovec) is generally used to distinguish turing- and superturing-grade mobile robots with full sophonce from presapient robots, which became known as "bots". The first "moravec robots" appeared circa 186 A.T.; before this date independently mobile robots were limited to sub-human intelligence by law. Even so, the first mobile vecs were large objects, resembling tanks or locomotives rather than humanoids, because the processors required to produce an artificial sophont entity were still quite bulky. As processors became smaller over time, the minimum size of a sophont vec became smaller, until they reached approximately the same size as a baseline human during the Nanotech Age.

C.e. to a.t. change.

The cybernetic element involved the launch of several large semi-neumann-capable probes, for the purpose of establishing basic infrastructure and supplies for the initial colony. Although, especially in the wake of Centauri, there was some anxiety among the less educated about the neumanns "taking over" space and excluding mankind, the centralists had been able to skillfully contain the crisis. In any case, the fear of malevolent post-singularity AIs (going all the way back to early 1st century a.t. (late 20th century c.e.) cinematic folklore like the Matrix and Terminator) had consistently failed to eventuate, thanks to the mostly pro-hu centralist machinations against rival ai factions, and robots had already been opening up the Solar System for man over the past two centuries without mishap.

The c.e. and a.t. dates in bold should switch places to be 199 a.t. (2168 c.e.).

Those groups of so-called Superbright Kids that had been sponsored by the GeneTEK megacorporation, including Nikolaus Vassiliou and his team, applied for, and gained, citizenship in the orbital Habitats. Together with the superturing AI systems and the augmented cyberheads that were the dominant faction in the orbital polities, Vassiliou and others forged ahead with the development of new types of genetically modified human outside the jurisdiction of the UN. Independently the Chinese Heavenly Palaces were developing their own groups of enhanced humanity, producing a so-called 'zero-gee child' in 2168 c.e. (199 AT) GeneTEK followed with their own version in 201.

A.t. to c.e. change. See bold.

Old Earth South-East Asian nation-state that during the Information Age went through a period of strife as the various islands and states seceded and overpopulation and environmental destruction played havoc. By the early Interplanetary age, during the late 2nd century a.t. and the early 3rd century a.t. (mid to late 22nd century c.e.), a new Indonesian Federation had re-established itself with Indian, Chinese and African Union help. The federation developed a successful space-based industry, and eventually moved into cislunar and belt space as a regional superpower. This grouping became involved in the Pi3 colonization attempt.

Propulsion method missing from entry in 221 a.t. See bold. My suggestion is below.

195 - The laser-propelled, unmanned robot probe, the Giordano Bruno, is launched towards Tau Ceti.

221 - Launch of von neumann probes to the Centauri system.

The von neumann probes would have been laser propelled too. That is my suggestion unless someone has a better one.

C.e. and a.t. should flip positions in article below to remain consistent with other articles. My suggested changes below in bold.

Currently they are listed as yyyy c.e. ( xxx a.t. ). I recommend making them xxx a.t. (yyyy c.e.).

The first Manned landing on Ceres was in 132 a.t. (2101 c.e.) in Kerwan Crater, when three beam-accelerated NASA/Russian space programme craft arrived to establish a base and small scale mining operation. When the crew returned to Earth three years later an autonomous mining operation had been established, controlled by a near-sophont AI known as Anya.

This operation was successful in producing return fuel for the next several missions, until a permanent manned base was set up at Kerwan Landing in 171 a.t. (2140 c.e.). Similar return fuel operations were being established on other asteroids, many of them privately financed, and in this way the commercialization of the Asteroid Belt began.

By 191 a.t. (2160 c.e.) there were dozens of independent mining companies sending craft to the Belt, each relying on the return fuel mining operations to get back to Earth orbit with their cargo of metals. The Dzougatov Mining Company and the SkyMining Corporation both had mines on Ceres, a small Chinese space habitat was in orbit around the planetoid, and the facility at Kerwan was now under joint NARESA (North American/Russian/European Space Authority) control.

Due to the constant disputes over territory on Ceres and the other asteroid colonies the United Nations of Earth sent a joint mission to link up with the four small colonies on Ceres and establish an administrative centre for the entire asteroid belt. An underground town was quickly constructed in a deep Dzougatov strip mine in Dantu crater, and in 201 a.t. (2169 c.e.) Ceres City was pressurised, ready to attempt regulation of the already chaotic minor planets and their inhabitants.

...

Freeport was later to become a haven for organised crime, underground political movements and bizarre entertainment, at first suppressed by Ceres city police until the 259 a.t. (2228 c.e.) Freeport Unilateral Declaration of Autonomy.
