Ciao,

Terrafamilia

I saw this the day after it was posted and i was inspired to make a submission. I may have waited a little too late and i ended up starting my work a week before the due date. The results are in and i havent had the courage to read them yet.

I thanked Orions Arm for being a source of rocket and space related knowledge.

My project was called the IOC(inhabited Orbital Complex) it is a design template published in the 2200s. It was built in several locations, Cerian Orbit, Callisto Orbit, and the lagrangian points of Titan.

Here are some images:

The IOC has a radius of 209m and makes a rotation every 1.85 seconds. It provides a gravity of 0.8G. It is divided into the central core and the inhabited ring. It is powered by a small (D-D)fusion reactor located at the blue end of the central core.

Here are some "scenic" images i made.

This is the IOC with Titan as the backdrop.

Very nice images! And thanks for the namecheck.
If you wish, we can use these as part of the OA Project, or you might like to contribute other work for that purpose.

That will be the Titan/Saturn L2 location in the last image, I presume?

Those images are beautiful. The last one looks quite photorealistic. Lots of detail.

Agreed, these images would fit in nicely in the early timeline when the Outer System was starting to be developed/colonized but before it worked up to the development and population levels that would be around before the Nanodisaster.

As Steve says, we'd be happy to display these as part of OA or consider other work that you might want to contribute to the project.

Thanks!

Nice renderings!
These structures look great!
Which modeling and rendering programs did you use?

If you guys are interested in using some of the images or want me to make some custom versions just let me know. I used 3ds max with the standard mental ray renderer, the complete model had a triangle count of 9million. I'm going to release on the models on another site within a week.

I'm probably going to start making models for near term(within 100 years) spacecraft and you can also use too.

@stevebower The station is at the L2 point of Titan. I thought it would be best to put it there since the support craft to easily visit the other icy bodies for mining purposes. The support craft use a water- fusion thermal rocket for propulsion.
