Maybe? Definitely related to Macrystis, which is a worldbuilding project within OA that focuses on Alien Biospheres

This YouTube series is also in the "A collaborative website/List of several hundred Speculative evolution projects from across the internet" at the bottom, but given its quality and its design to help beginners, I'd say it deserves its own link.

Also FYI, the "Astrobiology Magazine" astrobio.net link is dead.
